Routes plugin for WordPress: Version 2.2.6 released
I've just released version 2.2.6 of my Routes plugin for WordPress (it's a plugin that allows you to add geographical information in the form of geographical points or routes to WordPress posts and pages). You can download it on the Routes plugin home page.
This version of the plugin:
- Uses version 3 of the Google Maps API. So, a Google Maps API key is no longer needed, and they have fixed the printing problems of previous versions. On the down-side, they no longer have the option of displaying a Local Search box or an Overview Map for navigation on maps.
- Has a better editing interface for creating posts and pages, which should load faster.
- Uses Google Maps version 3's elevation lookup rather than the US Geological Survey elevation lookup service. It's faster, more reliable, and covers more of the planet.
- Has a better Proximity Search form, which automatically looks up latitude and longitude when you enter an address, instead of having a confusing "Lookup" button.
This is a fairly big change, and I recommend that you try out the new version on a test site before upgrading your live site, if possible.
