My wife and I rode this into Concrete and back. Nice easy ride and lots of seclusion back from the road. Just outside Hamilton you do need to get off the trail and go onto Hwy. 20, but only for a few hundred feet on a bridge crossing, then back onto the trail. Not many people using this trail. There are a couple of wineries and a brewery along the way. One winery is right on the trail. A third winery is past Concrete, in Rockport. Beautiful ride!
We recently biked part of this trail starting from the west end. Just past mile marker 6, we encountered flood damage to the trail. Though some fellow bikers turned back at this point, my husband and I continued by carrying and walking our bikes through the sandy mud and shallow water. Less than a half mile, we were back on the undamaged trail. See photos at http://mom.floft.net/index.php?id=147
Once again, we decided to spend the afternoon biking the Cascade Trail, but this time starting nearer the east end. Though the trail is in good condition, we did encounter a huge washout just west of where the trail crosses Challenger Road at about mile marker 19. We were glad it was possible to slip past the washout on a narrow path. See photos at http://mom.floft.net/index.php?id=147
